Data sources

The prices on Liter.dk are each station's pump price, published by the fuel brands or public sources. We don't change the prices.

Sources

How often are the prices updated?

The Danish sources are fetched every 30 minutes. A price is stored when it changes, and we note every time a source confirms the price still applies.

Times

• "Price set" is the time the source says the price was changed.
• "Updated" is the last time the source still gave the price.
• If a price has not been confirmed for over 3 hours, a warning is shown. After 24 hours the price is no longer included in averages, rankings or price alerts.

Fuel types

"Petrol" is the standard 95-octane product (E10), and "diesel" is standard diesel. Premium products (98/100 octane, premium diesel) and HVO100 are shown separately on the station pages and are not part of the comparisons.

Averages and rankings

• Averages are simple averages of every station's current price (not weighted by sales).
• Comparisons such as "cheaper than average" are only shown when at least 3 stations are included.
• Lists are sorted by price, then distance. No station can pay for its place.
• Today's price history is a snapshot of all confirmed prices, taken every hour.

Station locations

Some sources give coordinates. For the other Danish stations we find the location from the address in Denmark's official address register (Dataforsyningen). Until then, the middle of the postcode is used, and distances are shown as approximate.

Trip planning

Without a route calculation, distances are an estimate from a straight line times a road factor (±15%). Savings are only shown when the route has been calculated precisely, there are at least 3 stations along the route, and the saving after the detour is at least DKK 5.
