Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Liter.dk processes, why, and what rights you have. You can use the price comparison, search, calculators and trip planning without giving any information about yourself.

What data and why

Your location

If you tap "Use my location", your browser asks for permission. The location is rounded to about 100 metres, used only to find nearby stations and not stored. We don't use your location for anything else.

No marketing without your yes

Price alert emails are only sent because you created the alert yourself and confirmed your email with a one-time code. The email contains only the information you asked for — fuel type, price limit and station or area — and no advertising. It is therefore regarded as a service message, not as marketing under § 10 of the Danish Marketing Practices Act. Every alert email has a link that pauses the alert.

Data processors

Clerk, Inc., 660 King Street Unit 345, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (sign-in, sessions and one-time codes by email). Clerk stores your email address and sign-in history. Clerk hosts in the USA and does not offer data storage in the EU, so your sign-in data is transferred to the USA. The transfer takes place under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Clerk is certified, and Clerk's data processing agreement contains the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a fallback if the framework does not apply or lapses.
Leaseweb Netherlands B.V., Hessenbergweg 95, 1101 CX Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The data is in the EU, and a data processing agreement under GDPR Art. 28 is in place. Everything is in an EU data centre, so hosting involves no transfer to third countries.

We send no personal data to the fuel brands. We host the maps ourselves, so no request goes to a map provider when you open a map.

Storage and deletion

Price alerts, favourites and saved trips: until you delete them or your account.
Log of alert emails sent: 12 months. The log is used to avoid sending you the same message twice.
Technical log files at the hosting provider: only as long as needed for operation and security.
If you delete your account in My account, your data at Liter.dk and your sign-in account at Clerk are deleted at once.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to object. You can edit and delete your alerts and account yourself in My account, and every alert email has a link that pauses the alert. Write tohej@liter.dk for anything else. You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).
